British Cultural Studies (Britische Kulturwissenschaft)
British Cultural Studies understands culture very broadly as a ‘whole way of life’. Culture therefore does not only include products of ‘high culture’ or ‘popular culture’ (popular literature, films, comics, music …) but also refers to processes and practices by way of which individuals and communities are being provided with yet also actively create meanings relevant to their lives. BCS deals with questions of identity, gender, race and ethnicity, class, the relationship between humans and nature, and many more aspects.
